Lean, Mean, Teen-Machine: Gracie Barra Pasadena’s Kaori Hernandez

Gracie Barra’s Teen Wonder: Kaori Hernandez

In the past, we’ve featured some awesome pre-adolescent wonders in the world of Jiu-Jitsu. But they were boys. This time, we got a girl in the house. Meet Kaori Hernandez of Gracie Barra Pasadena.

She started training in Gracie Barra Pasadena when she was 11 years old. 3 years into the training, she’s a heavily decorated champion.

I started at Gracie Barra when I was 11. Professor Orlando Sanchez invited me and brother to try it out she says.

Loving her new found sport, she says I love that jiu-jitsu is a very unique sport that helps everyone, whether you’re big or small, it helps you defend yourself from the most vulnerable positions, especially since Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a sport that uses a lot of leverage. I just love that it helped me build patience and it helped me built discipline that I never believed I would gain from Jiu-jitsu.
